Movement of tourists in and around Jog has been restricted owing to security concerns.
Entry of public into the premises of Sharavati project, Mahatma Gandhi power station, Gerusoppa power station and Linganamakki reservoir has been prohibited due to the Naxal menace in Shimoga, Chikmagalaur and Udupi
districts.
Security in and around Jog has been beefed up, said Executive Director of Karnataka Power Corporation.
Water released
From Linganamakki reservoir to river Sharavati 22,000 cusecs water is being released by lifting 11 radial gates.
Those who are residing in low lying areas on the bank of river Sharavati have been asked to move to safer places.
