Residents protest against bad roads
Bangalore, DHNS:

Residents of Kaggadasapura in Bangalore staged a rasta-roko demanding repair of 1.5 km stretch road connecting Kaggadasapura and Vignana Nagar, on Tuesday.

Residents of the locality started protest around 9.30 am and continued for two hours affecting traffic movement. Protesters alleged that despite many complaints BBMP has not taken measures to improve the road.
Nirmala, a resident of the locality, said that she is suffering from back pain as she has been travelling on the road for a few months.

“The road is in such a bad condition that Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation has not allotted any buses to ply between Kaggadasapura and Vignana Nagar. School going children often complain of neck pain as their vehicle has to do all kind of circus to reach the school in Vignana Nagar”, she said.

Mathew, principal of private college, said that the residents of the locality had dreamt that infrastructure in the locality would be improved once the area is included in BBMP. “But nothing has been done. Our demands have fallen on dumb ears”, he alleged. Vyjayanthi, resident of the locality, said that during rainy days travelling on the road is a herculean task. As vehicles move dust raises from the ground and gathers on commodities in shops functioning alongside the road.

Joint Commissioner of BBMP (East zone) Nagaraj said that the road work has been handed over to Land Army. However the agency has not yet started the work as funds has not been released.
