In the local body elections the Congress is definitely going to garner a majority, said AICC Joint Secretary Captain Praveen Dhavar.
He was speaking at a District Congress Party Workers’ meet on Tuesday in Tumkur, in view of elections to the various local bodies in the district.
“No party leader in the State should be allowed to form a coalition with the JD (S). An appeal with regard to the same will have to be communicated to Sonia Gandhi”, said District Congress President Shafi Ahmed.
Disagreement
As it can be observed several senior Congress leaders in the State have expressed their dissatisfaction over Union Minister of State for Planning Commission M V Rajashekaran’s meeting with former prime minister H D Devegowda, he added. Moreover, in case of Tumkur there is no possibility of forging a coalition with the JD (S).
This has been effectively communicated in the appeal sent ot Sonia Gandhi. Also, the Congress Party High Command should consider the request of the district unit, he observed.
Also present in the meeting were G S Basavaraj, Shafi Ahmed, S P Muddahanume Gowda, Shadakshari and others senior members of the party.
