Mangalore City Corporation, Besant Women’s College and Lions Club Kodialbail will organise a ‘Swacchatha abhiyan’ to spread awareness among the citizens on effective waste management in the city.
Addressing a news conference on Tuesday, Mangalore City Corporation Joint Commissioner Ajith Kumar Hegde said that the jatha will be inaugurated at Town Hall here on August 8 by Deputy Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao.
About 750 students and staff of Besant Women’s College will participate in the jatha that will pass through some of the important areas in the City such as Hampankatta, Bunder, Car street, Central Market and Kankanady.
Besant Women’s College Principal Manjula K T said that even couple of years ago the college was a part of one such programme organised by the city corporation. During this Jatha, the students will spread the message by means of placards and banners. She said that college is participating in the programme as it will help the students inculcate social responsibilities.
Health Officer Manjaiah Shetty, Lions CLub Kodialbail president Deviprasad Shetty and others were present.
