There has been a setback in the paddy cultivation owing to the heavy rainfall in Koppa taluk. The sowing has been completed only in 2,100 hectares of land while 6,203 hectares of land is under paddy cultivation.
Koppa taluk has received heavy rainfall between July 23 and 30. As a result, paddy saplings have been destroyed in several places in the taluk.
Harihara hobli has received 2,126 mm rainfall by the end of July. The normal rainfall would be 1,498 mm. However, Megunda hobli has received 261 mm less rainfall. Kasaba has received 1,798 mm rainfall. While the normal rainfall would be 1,569 mm.
According to agricultural department survey, paddy fields have been destroyed in 32 hectares of land.
