Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy abiding by his declaration at the cabinet meeting, promptly withdrew two circular of the revenue department pertaining to Bane land in Kodagu on Tuesday.
With the withdrawal of the circular, the combined protests that Kodavas staged outside the Vidhana Sabha and the representatives staged inside exhibiting their solidarity has finally paid off.
A circular from Revenue Department Principal Secretary S M Jamdar said that the circular dated 31/10/2006 and 16/01/2007 have been withdrawn by the government.
The copies of the circular have been sent to Regional Commissioner, Mysore division, Kodagu Deputy Commissioner and three taluk tahshildars.
The circular was released on October 31 and the Kodavas united to protest aganist the circular on the same day.
Bane Hakku Samrakshana Horata Samiti called for a Kodagu bundh on July 2 and the protest was intensified on July 16 as the protestors moved on to the state capital with their demand to withdraw the circular.
Kodagu Asthithwa Horata Samiti demanded the governement to withdraw the circular by July 25 and also planned ‘Vidhana Saudha chalo’ on July 30. But with the Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy declaring to withdraw the three circular at the cabinet meeting, ‘Vidhana Saudha Chalo’ was withdrawn.
Finally the government has put an end to the Bane land problem by acting as per its words.
