Essential Services Ordinance In Force New Delhi, Aug 7
The Central Government employees today were prohibited from going on strike on penalty of imprisonment or fine in respect of postal, telephone, telegraph or aviation services and of disciplinary action including dismissal from service in respect of other Central Government service.
The Government of India this evening issued an order banning any strike in the postal, telegraphs, telephone or aviation services under powers vested in them by an Ordinance incorporating the provisions of the Essential Services Maintenance Bill recently passed by the Loksabha.

Busmen Call Off Strike
Bangalore, Aug. 7.
The busmen of the BTS and the KSRTC who went on a snap strike yesterday, called it off unconditionally today to the great relief of the commuters. The City services were resumed at about 1 pm but it was only in the evening that normalcy in services was restored after hectic negotiations between the management and the transport crew.
The strike was ended only after a warning given by the Corporation authorities that severely action would be taken against those who participated in the strike.
