India’s first woman IPS officer Kiran Bedi could succeed President Pratibha Patil as governor of Rajasthan, highly placed sources in the Home Ministry told Deccan Herald.
Ms Patil had quit as governor to contest the presidential election.
Ms Bedi was miffed with the government for superseding her and appointing Y S Dadwal, an IPS officer, her junior by two batches, as the Commissioner of Police, New Delhi.
She had gone on three months’ protest leave and resumed work a day after she had a “great” meeting with Home Minister Shivraj Patil.
