R Madhu slammed 107 as St Claret School cruised to an eight-wicket win over Cambridge Public School in a first-phase match of the Boost Cricket Cup inter-school (U-17) tournament here on Tuesday.

Batting first, Cambridge put on a fighting 172 for nine for their stipulated 30 overs. Abhijit top-scored with 53 while S Santosh contributed 45.

Nandeesh picked two for 32 for Clarets.

Claret replied with 173 for two in 23.2 overs with Madhu slamming a superb ton. He was well supported by S Rohith, who chipped in with 27.

In another one-sided match, Vidyanikaten School trounced Vivekananda Education Centre by a margin of 156 runs.

Vidyaniketan, riding on Yash Chopra’s 51 and Rahul Menon’s 33 put on 211 in 30 overs before being all out.

Karthik (3/33), Krishna (2/22), Dev Chandan (2/37) and Jathin (2/38) got amongst wickets.

Vivekananda in reply could manage a mere 55 all out in 15 overs.

Sarala Birla Academy: 94 all out in 17.4 overs (Aditya Ranjan 32; Sankesh 2-18, Ankush Kumar 3-19) lt to Cathedral High School: 96/6 in 21.4 overs (Akash 2-25, Navaneeth 2-33).
