Seventeen-year-old Angad Chee-ma, playing in only the third amateur golf tournament of his career, and Jaipur’s Amanjyot Singh shared the lead after carding an even-par 72 each on the opening day of the LG Northern India Amateur Golf Championship here on Tuesday.
The trio of Manav Das, Gagan Verma and Karan Vasudeva was tied third a stroke further back, while the duo of Abhishek Jha and Akshay Maliwal was tied for sixth at 74 each.
Amanjyot started badly with a double bogey on the first where he three-putted from 30 feet.
But the Jaipur golfer then caught fire to birdie the fifth, sixth and seventh holes to take the turn at two-under.
In the back nine, he bogeyed the 10th and 18th to end the day at 72.
