Bedi dubs Murali a shot putter
Muttiah Muralitharan’s feat of scalping more than 1100 wickets in international cricket has failed  to impress Bishan Singh Bedi, who after calling him a javelin thrower once, has now dubbed the Sri Lankan a shot putter.

‘’Our kanhaiya (Murali), who I call the best shot putter, will go on to become the highest wicket taker of all time, that for me is not right,’’ he said.

New turn in KSCA affairs
The lead-up to the elections of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) took another interesting turn on Tuesday after indications that association vice-president V Jagannath and selection panel chairman Ashokanand had tendered their resignations, reports DHNS in Bangalore.

While denying that he had already sent in his resignation, Jagannath told Deccan Herald, “I have taken a decision, but I will only make it public tomorrow.” Battle lines have been clearly drawn with the entry into the fray of Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, backed by liquor baron Vijay Mallya, who are taking on the incumbent group with K M Ramprasad as the president and Brijesh Patel as the secretary. It has been speculated that Jagannath and Ashokanand, along with treasurer Sadanand Maiya, are all set to throw their weight behind the group opposing the established order at next month’s elections.

Chawla bags four, India ‘A’ score
Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla continued with his fine form to capture four wickets as India ‘A’ crushed Kenya by an innings and 98 runs in a three-day cricket match at Mombasa Sports Club in Nairobi on Tuesday, reports PTI from New delhi.

Needing 309 to avoid an innings defeat, Kenya were bowled out for 211 in their second innings. Chawla (4/32) and medium-pacer Pankaj Singh (3/19) were the main wicket-takers for the visitors.

Brief scores:  Kenya: 97 and 211 (Collins Obuya 51, Maurice Ouma 35; Piyush Chawla 4-32, Pankaj Singh 3-19) lt to India A: 406/8 decl. (S Badrinath 133 n,.o., Parthiv Patel 124, Pankaj Singh 40; Peter Ongondo 2-74, Hiren Varaiya 2-119).

Yusuf, Praveen for Kenya
Baroda’s Yusuf Pathan and Uttar Pradesh’s Praveen Kumar were on Tuesday named by the national selectors as replacements for Rohit Sharma and Piyush Chawla in the India ‘A’ team currently touring Kenya, reports PTI from Mumbai.
