Children with certain learning disabilities usually have an average or above average intelligence, but unfortunately perform badly academically. Such children can definitely improve their grades and cope with demands of a regular classroom curriculum, by a proper assessment and psycho-educational treatment of their problems.
Parents resigned to the idea that such children are slow, unconsciously cause a feeling of low esteem in them. Intensive remedial intervention with emotive therapy is the only solution to overcome these shortcomings. To realise the needs of such children and motivate them positively, requires specialised parenting and teaching skills.
