Conduct impartial survey of rain damage, officials told

 As losses to the tune of crores of rupees have occurred due to incessant rains lashing the taluk, the general meeting of the taluk panchayat has asked the officials of the Agriculture and Horticulture department to conduct an impartial survey of the losses incurred and submit a comprehensive report to the government.

The directions were given at the meeting organised under the presidentship of Taluk Panchayat President T T Vinod at Taluk Panchayat premises on Wednesday. The taluk panchayat members who conducted department-wise progress review, directed the Horticulture Department to distribute good quality chilli saplings to the farmers. Moreover, the Agriculture Department was asked to distribute facilities along with power tillers after selecting beneficiaries during the gram panchayat meet. 

Zilla Panchayat member B L Sandeep informed the meet that students are not being admitted to I PUC at Hirebail and the department concerned must immediately take action in this regard. The meet decided to send a proposal to the government asking to set up a separate kitchen in primary schools under Akshara Dasoha Scheme. The Taluk Panchayat sub-committee was asked to inspect the buildings being unnecessarily constructed by Animal Husbandry Department in Kalasa hobli on August 16 and a submit a report on the same. Officials informed the meeting that the Health Department had appointed 24 doctors on contract basis, but only two of them have reported for duty.

Taluk Social Welfare Officer Dr Devaraju said that repair works of the boys hostel and construction work on additional hostel rooms is in progress with an expenditure of Rs 14 crore released by the State division. Similarly, for repair works at Gonibeedu Hostel, Rs 1.5 lakh has been released, while Rs 4 lakh has been released for the repair works at Kalasa Hostel. TP President Vinod said in Kudremukh jurisdiction, gram panchayats must implement their working plans incorporating plans to provide support grant to nursing students. On the occasion, working plans for various projects of the panchayat were chalked out with emphasis on projects that generate employment in the taluk.

Zilla Panchayat Vice-President Farahath Banu, Zilla Panchayat member Jyoti Hemashekhar, Asha Latha Jain, B L Sandeep, Social Justice Standing Committee President Manjaiah, Dr Sathishchandra, Vice-President Chandregowda and Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Dr sathishchandra were present.
