The famous Shriraj theatre near the HMT watch factory has been completely renovated and renamed as Shriraj Pyramid theatre.
The new theatre will be inaugurated on August 10, at a programme to be held at 12 noon, informed industrialists of Gouri Group M N Lokesh, T N Shrikanthswamy and T N Channabasavaprasad. They disclosed this at a press conference here on Wednesday.
Trader Nanjundappa had struggled hard to establish this theatre, then. Today, this theatre had been modernised with the latest technology and equipments.
The inaugural programme would be graced by Seer Dr Shivakumar Swamiji of Siddaganga Math. The Seer will be felicitated on the occasion and followed by the inauguration of the theatre with the new name “Shriraj Pyramid.” Junior Seer Siddalinga Swamiji will also be present on the occasion.
The renovated theatre will be inaugurated by Home Minister M P Prakash. The digital sound system and the canteen facility will be inaugurated by Minister for Kannada and Culture H S Mahadevaprasad.
Mr Natarajan, Mr Swaminathan, Mr Venkateshkrishnan, Mr V K Somashekhar, Mr H Shivappa, Mr S S Patil, Mr H S Shivashankar, Mr G S Basavaraju and Mr K Natarajan will take part. Minister of Sericulture Sogadu Shivanna will preside over the function.
The theatre is popularly haunted by movie lovers since ages. Since the beginning, the theatre has been screening popular movies. Today, it has been upgraded to DTS sound system and is now, one of the grand theatres of Tumkur City. It has a seating capacity of 1,000 spacious seats.
In the balcony alone, there are 400 seats. Spacious parking facility, canteen facility, toilets, water facility and several additional aspects have been included in the renovated theatre, Mr Lokesh described.
