Three endangered snakes which were being used persons to entertain people near the city market were recovered by the forest department staff with the help of environmentalists. A release said, the Wildlife Awareness Environmental Association’s B V Gundappa, T V Guruprasad and the forest department staff recovered the snakes and later released them into the Devarayanadurga forest range. The mongoose and snakes are becoming an endangered species these days and catching and caging them for public entertainment has been banned.
“Stringent action should be taken against those who indulge in catching such endangered wildlife species and use it for entertainment,” urged environmentalists.
Forest department’s Rakesh, Govindaraju and Vivekananda association members were present .
