Deccan Herald » District » Detailed Story
Power politics push development aside
H H Dayanand, DH News Service, Kolar:

A cursory glance at the various development projects let us know how adversely the political instability in the state has been affecting them. The public has not been receiving the benefits of the many development  projects that  has been initiated as there is lax administration because the political scenario is  shaky .

The apathy displayed by the people’s representatives, officials and the political leaders about the  various  pro people schemes and developmental projects is almost criminal.

Kolar is just 70 kilometres away from the  epicentre of  Bangalore which is the  seat of the coalition government of JD(S) and BJP. Yet the power of this government leaves a lot be  desired in the close by district.

JD(S) issues
There are enough issues with the ruling party of  JD(S) for them to concentrate on anything  else. Infighting, difference of opinions, groupism and confusion rule the roost in the party and it seems like there seems little scope for them to shift their  attention to development of the state.

The party workers moral seems to have hit a low and there is no enthusiasm in them about the  their party ruling the state. The in fighting among the top party leaders has also become a bane for the party as a whole because they are unable to pay attention to the  grass root level party worker.

Even the District in-charge Minister Alangur Srinivas seems to visit Kolar very  rarely.

Even when he  does visit the district, the party workers lament that  he  has  little time for their  problems. The repercussion of this indifference is that the loyal party worker seems to be in a dilemma about his party leadership and their responses to his problems.

Wilting lotus
The story of the BJP leadership is that different either. The two legislators S N Krishnaiaha Shetty and B P Venkatmuniappa  seem to be working only for the transfer of power between the  two parties scheduled for October 3rd. The two of them have almost never been seen at district level officials meet.

It seems to come of  no surprise that the district administration has reached alarmingly low standards , when the people’s representatives are busy with their  own affairs.

Busy hand
The Congress party that was almost cheated out of power has no time for the problems of the  district as they are busy solving the in house problems.

There is an ongoing  tussle between the new recruits and the old members to establish them themselves.  Also the congress leadership seems to have lost its ability to garner even a protest group to highlight the short comings of the government.

The party  seems to have  excused its self from the taking the responsibility of addressing the  various problems  faced by  the  public.

People on the other are struggling for even basic amenities. The district administration has still not been  able to find a solution to the  drinking water  problem.

Despite the serious issues the political class seems to have  forgotten its role in solving them.
