A formal order declaring the former sub division of Chickballapur  into a district has been released on August 3rd. Deputy Secretary of Revenue department G Raghavendrachar announced that the new Chickballapur district that been carved out of Kolar will have  6 taluks and will  come into effect on September 10th.

A notification was sent out on 27.6.2007 for the formation of  new districts a months time was given for objections to be  filed. However none were filed. Therefore under the  authority given under the Land revenue act 1964 (Karnataka 1964 Act 12) col 4, and order for new district was passed.

According to this order while Chickballapur was the new district, Shidalghatta, Chintamani, Bagepalli, Gudibande and Gauribidanur are the taluks that will fall under it.

The confusion of about  Chinatamani’s inclusion to the  new  district was clearedonly after the  formal government order was passed.
