The talent, creativity and ideas of budding designers Deepthi and Aashok was translated into designer garments last week at the launch of their first show ‘Creazioni,’ at Fuga. Models of Prasad Bidappa walked the ramp showcasing the duo’s latest offering.
Armed with a degree from JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Deepthi says her creative abilities are tempered by her ability to feel the pulse of the fashion conscious.
Also a trained makeup artist, Deepthi, says it’s her eagerness to experiment, evolve and grow out of the mundane that’s made her work in western wear unique.
Aashok’s master’s degree is Computer Applications and Commerce, and his ten years of working with corporate companies came in handy when he joined hands with Deepthi’s creative ability, to design a men’s collection. The designers say they do not go by trends.
“It’s how the wearer relates to it. We believe our garments should accentuate the wearer’s image and extend their attitudes. Our designs revolve around the concept of conformity, ecstasy and nirvana, and the collection in a range of casuals and formals, has contrasting free form movement, with emphasis on graphic elements, it’s a young and lively approach.”
White rules throughout the collection. Body hugging silk garments, in varying lengths where the whites accented with printed panels played with abstract and floral prints on yolk.
Then a white with grey embellishment’s on the hemline was interpreted through subtle techniques to enhance the flowing hemline dress with lacy long sleeves.
The male models interspersed the medley of garments with white shirts with matching coloured trousers. Aubergine, off whites, khaki, olive, beige trousers complemented the white shirts looked sleek and smart. The short fitting shirts are matched with flaps, wooden buttons, gold foil prints of oriental script on the back and a subtle design running up the front panel. While, the trousers are lose with pockets and the focus was on jute, cotton and linen, the women’s wear indulges in sensuous silks, chiffon’s, georgette and cotton.
Deepthi and Ashok’s fashion idol is Wendell Rodricks. They have a keen eye for design, quality and pay attention to detail.
