Vermilion House with Minolli Arts Mumbai presents “Faces of Kerala” a solo show by K R Babu from August 10 to August 16 at Vermilion House, 3/12, Cleveland Road Cross, Frazer Town.
Babu is a traditional Kerala mural painter. For 14 years he was a teacher at the Malayalam Kalagramam in Mahe. This art village is a trust to promote different performing and visual arts like Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, classical Carnatic music, sculpture, traditional painting, yoga and Sanskrit. This rich interaction made Babu imbibe all apsects of visual and performing arts and this is seen in his painting.
Unique work
With this series of paintings, Babu has done a crossover from the traditional Kerala mural art form to something experimental of his own. “Faces of Kerala” gives his deep insight into the study of the brilliance of colour and beauty of women.
Each portrait is unique for its vivid women and their adornment with brilliant coloured flowers. Babu has won several awards and state recognition for his contribution towards mural and other art forms of Kerala.
