Wife-beater gets 3 year RI
A man was sentenced to three-year rigorous imprisonment on Wednesday for beating his pregnant wife that resulted in the death of the foetus, PTI reports from Ghaziabad.

The prosecution had charged Usman for beating his wife Waheeda Rehman when she was pregnant. Additional District Judge Ranbir Singh Dagar held Usman guilty and sentenced him to jail.

J&K MLA escapes bid on life
CPI (M) MLA Mohammad Khalil Naik escaped a bid on his life on Wednesday by militants in Pulwama district, PTI reports from Srinagar.

Naik, who was returning to the Srinagar after touring his Wachi constituency, was attacked by militants, who fired at his bullet-proof vehicle at Bahibag official sources said. However the MLA and his security escort escaped unhurt.

Delhi-Howrah trains delayed
Nearly 18 trains especially on the Delhi-Howrah line were delayed on Wednesday as the tracks near Juhi yard have not been cleared after the derailment of Jodhpur-Howrah Express, PTI reports from Kanpur.
On Tuesday 32 passengers were injured when two engines and four bogies of the Express train derailed near Juhi yard.

Book on SRK launched
King of Bollywood, a book on actor Shah Rukh Khan, depicting the journery of a middle-class Muslim boy from Delhi who broke into the insular, nepotistic world of Bombay show business and emerged as a superstar, has been released in Mumbai, reports UNI.

The book has been penned by critic and author Anupama Chopra.
