Panic prevailed in Tilak Nagar area on Sunday following rumours that two groups clashed over a trivial issue. The police station was flooded with frantic calls, while officers told them nothing of that sort had taken happened.
Later, it was learnt some youths had been calling newspaper offices spreading rumours. According to sources, a two-wheeler rider, in an inebriated state, brushed against a youth on Swagath Theatre road. When the rider stared at them, the youths gave him a mouthful. The rider warned them and disappeared.
Immediately, the youths lodged a complaint with the police. ACP B R Prasad pacified them.
