Eviction drive at Saragodu begins

 The eviction of encroached forest land at Survey Number 202 to 205 in Saragodu was started on Sunday. As a part of the drive, seven houses were razed to the ground. In Bairigadde five houses of Basavaraju, Jareena, Gangachari, Bairegowda, Arun Mahananda, Nagesh in Thalavara village, were demolished and the land was taken back. The drive was undertaken by Forest Conservator Parabashchandra Re with the help of 213 police personnel and 175 labourers. Banana, arecanut, coconut, coffee, chilly grown in the encroached land were destroyed. Aranya Hitharakshana Samithi members Duggappa Gowda, Dayakar, Poornesh, Sanjeev were arrested when they tried to stop the eviction drive.

The arrested have started hunger strike at the Aldoor police station.
