Looting of truck
Police arrest four in Koppa

Koppa police have arrested a team of four robbers who looted a truck on NH 13 at Hirekere and took away a sum of Rs 30,000 on Saturday.

The truck that was plying from Kasargod to Davangere to buy animals was stopped by the robbers by blocking its way with an Omni car.  The robbers splashed chilli powder on the faces of the people travelling in the truck and looted about Rs 30,000 from them at about 2.30 pm on Saturday. A resident of the area who heard commotion nearby informed the police and intimated about the matter. Accordingly, the police who were on patrol near welcome arch stopped the truck on suspicion.

The omni that was chasing the truck was stopped and seized and the four person namely Manjunath Shetty, a bus agent from Thirthahalli, H S Prakash from Soppugudde, Amjad from Ranjadakatte and Radhakrishna from Balagar travelling in the Omni were arrested in this regard.

This is for the third time that the same truck was being looted.

The same truck with Ganesh, Abdullah, Usman and Ashraf ply to Davangere from Kasargod once in 15 days to bring cattle.

 Earlier a sum of Rs 12,000 and Rs 15,000 was looted from them by the robbers in the pretext of being Bajrang Dal activists.

Shankar Nayak, Lokesh, Devraj and Mallappa were in the police team which arrested the robbers.
 Bajrang Dal State Convener Mahendra Kumar lauding the police for having arrested a team that has been looting the animal traders in the name of Bajrang dal and has urged the people to bring such issues either to the notice of the police or to the notice of Bajrang Dal itself.
