“Sauharda Sahitya Sammelana should be the platform to fight against inequality and communalism that has been prevailing in the coastal belt since times,” said renowned Litterateur H Govindayya.
He was speaking after inaugurating Sauharda Sahitya Sammelana at Ammanni Rammanna Shetty Hall here on Sunday.
Expressing his deep anguish over the dominance of communal forces on secularism, he said “we are still in the misconception of changing the society on the basis of fighting against communal forces, but the irony is that it has remained only an attempt until now. Communal forces are sowing the seeds of hatredness which is indeed detrimental to the growth of brotherhood society and these hatred feelings are deeply sketched in the minds of the people and can not be erased so easily.”
Lashing out at so called communal parties, he said these parties are in a false conception that by using this part of the state, which has been known for its religious harmony, they can strengthen their roots and survive themselves. To get rid of these forces there is no need for a sharp weapon or sword, only people should make up their mind, he added.
Mr Govindayya informed that Dalita Sahitya Chaluvali of the 70s had laid a firm foundation for the birth of ‘bandaya chaluvali’ and expressed his concern towards the mere existence of the Dalita Sahitya chaluvali as the Bandaya Sahitya Chaluvali has overshadowed it. He called upon the literates to not be proud about their status, which may leave them all alone in this crowd, instead walk along with the downtrodden.
Delivering his presidential address, Senior thinker and Editor Hosathu monthly Dr G Ramakrishna said corruption which has been extensively practiced in all other fields has not spared literary world also.
“Writers, litterateurs should introspect on their stand on literature. They should come out with their opinion on what kind of literature they practice and would like to support. Reality should be reflected in the writing and if it is not so, it cannot be considered as novel literature,” he added.
He also urged the Kannada Sahitya Parishath President to go through the malpractices in the forth coming Kannada Sahitya Sammelana.
Dr Ramakrishna released ‘Thurthu paristhithiya karala mukha’ written by noted writer Sara Abubakar on the occasion.
President Kannada Sahitya Parishath Chandrashekar Patil’s presence at the meet was a major attraction.
Senior Litterateur Sara Abubakar, Koraga Organisation Development Association President Gokuldas, Vice-President Vicharavadi Vedike Dr U Vanajakhi, Member District Minorities Organisation Khateeb Abdul Rasheed, President KDF Abdul Rawoof, President SSS G Rajashekar, Treasurer K Janardhan Bhandarkar, general Secretary Dinaker Bengre were present on the occasion.
