The Communist Party of India, a coalition partner in the West Bengal government, received a setback on Monday after the party legislator from Nandigram, Md Illiyas, who was allegedly caught accepting bribe in a sting operation by a TV channel, was barred entry into the state assembly.
Md Illiyas, on Monday, was asked by the Speaker HA Halim to leave the house. He was banned from entry till December 21 when a committee would probe the allegation and submit a report.
Illias denied the allegations, saying that he was “framed” by the channel and it was a conspiracy. The channel showed Illiyas taking bribe from its reporter masquerading as an NGO worker on December 5, for raising questions in the state assembly.
Graves in Nandigram
Meanwhile, in another development, CRPF personnel on Monday stumbled upon another grave, at Parulbari in Maheshpur village of Nandigram and cordoned off the area.
The CRPF jawans discovered hair and marks on earth, suggesting a freshly-dug grave. While Mahespur happened to be a stronghold of the anti-farmland activists, no one has so far claimed anything about the likely identity of those buried there.
The grave is likely to be dug again in presence of a magistrate on Tuesday. This follows the discovery of fives graves at Bidyapit village between Khejuri and Talpati canal from where charred bones and skulls were dug out the next day.
