Opposing the domination of IAS officers in the vice chancellor selection committee, a group of academicians and public representatives has demanded that the Governor dissolve the committee.
In a joint statement, former higher education minister Dr G Parameshwara, litterateur Dr L Hanumanthaiah and three others said that the selection committee to appoint vice chancellors at Hampi University, Kannada University, Mysore University and Bijapur Women’s University is dominated by the IAS officers, who are non-academicians. They demanded that the governor dissolve the committee and reconstitute it with due weightage to academicians.
