After a disappointing tyrst with cinema in ‘Shubham’, director Ravi Garani who showed the industry that serials with innumerable twists would automatically stay on top of TRP ratings, is back with ‘Kasthuri’, a serial for, you guessed it right, all the homemakers at home, men included.
‘Kasthuri’, the story of a nurse whose life takes a completely new turn, has already completed 50 episodes and is going strong. Garani was understandably pleased. “In the 25 years it took the industry to evolve, it is only now that story narration is gaining prominence. ‘Kasthuri’ is a simple story revolving around two sisters who have to weather all adversities. I thought of this story more than five years back.
It is only now I got to work on it.” And yes, ‘Kasthuri’ won’t test viewer patience. “Remember I wound up ‘Kaavyanjali’ after 260 episodes even though people suggested I provide more twists and prolong the serial’s run,” Garani counters.
For actress Chandrakala Mohan, who first shot to fame in Vyshali Kasaravalli’s ‘Moodala Mane’, the role of the stepmother posed a stiff challenge. “ I was reluctant to do this role as I didn’t want to play the vamp for a while. But Ravi Garani finally had me convinced and the result is there for you to see.”
Garani then concluded with a promise that this serial too would keep viewer sensibility in mind. In short, the serial won’t compromise on quality, TRP or no TRP!
