INCHOE -2007, the fourth Indian National Conference on Harbour and Ocean Engineering will be jointly organised by National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal and New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT), Panambur at NITK from December 12 to 14, informed NITK Director Prof Sandeep Sancheti.
Speaking at a press meet here on Tuesday, he said the conference will be inaugurated by eminent scientist Prof Tad S Murty from Canada. About 150 delegates are expected to participate in the deliberations of the conference. Seven eminent researchers and professionals will deliver talks while more than 100 research papers will be presented by delegates.
INCHOE -2007 will provide a platform for discussion on the problems and solutions recommended guidelines on critical aspects to planners and decision makers and further direct the futuristic approaches and trends in the field of harbour and ocean engineering. Though INCHOE is a national event, considering the importance of the subject and need for integration of international expertise, international experts and delegates will attend INCHOE -2007, which makes INCHOE an international forum. A few eminent scientists, professors and delegates from Canada, Japan, Korea and New Zealand will attend the conference.
Themes of the conference include hydrodynamics of marine environment, port management and operations, port engineering, logistics, planning and dredging, marine geotechnical engineering, modelling techniques, environment impact assessment, coastal hydrology and others.
NMPT Chief Engineer Hadavo, Conference Publicity Committee Chairman Dr Gopal Mugeraya, Dr Subba Rao and conference joint secretary Dr Kiran G Shirlal were present on the occasion.
