Most of them indentured, by the British Raj, to fulfill their whims and fancies.
All that was provided was a small Tamil school, and a temple of their choice. Sundry was always at the mercy of the masters. To add more a toddy shop which provided the evening kick after a day's hard work. This was the life of most of the Indians.
The Indians today hold the leadership of most of the Professional bodies namely, the Medical,Legal and Planting fraternity in Malaysia, and at times Indians have had headed other bodies.
All this was due to sheer hard work and determination of these indentured labourers who were also unashamedly exploited and abused by their own country cousins.
Having seen and experienced such atrocities at the hands of the Indian subordinates of the British Raj,it is no hurt caused, when the Chairperson of Malaysia's Hindraf Mr.Waythemoorthy was snubbed by the Congress Leaders of India.
India calls itself secular and also known as the largest Democracy, which democracy is only limited to its own preaching.
India could go out of its way, to create a Bangladesh, though at the cost of lives of its own countrymen; it could provide refuge to the hundreds of thousands of Indians from Sri Lanka; Yet it cannot lend a ear to Malaysians deprived lots, representative.
Pranab Mukherjee the Indian Foreign Minister could have done better not to insult and embarass the embattled Mr.Waythemoorthy by giving him an appoinment, and listening to the woes, before concluding that Hindraf is a militant group or terrorist group and that they are LTTE supporters.
There is neither substance nor truth in the claim orchestrated by the Malaysian Prime Minister and his Government, and I don't find any reason for Mr.Pranab Mukherjee to make similar allegations, unfounded, against Malaysia Hindraf.
The attrocities of and by the Malaysian Government will lead to nowhere, and if for India, which failed to seek the truth, if only friendly relations, dollars and cents are the ultimate, it is bad diplomacy.
Oh GREAT MOTHER INDIA, we counted upon you at a time of distress but in vain.
