Princess Diana had repeatedly expressed fears that some harm would come to her, Raine, Countess Spencer told the court investigating her death.
“She often mentioned accidents,” her stepmother said. “But mostly helicopter accidents, not car accidents”.
Diana was very interested in horoscopes, Lady Spencer said, adding that she was extremely nervous about the possibility of an “accident” befalling her and “she did go endlessly to these different soothsayers, fortunetellers.”
In her first detailed testimony about the relationship, Countess Spencer said the princess was “madly in love” with Dodi Fayed and was probably about to marry him.
It was “highly likely” that they would have become engaged and married — or at least started living together, Raine was quoted as telling the court by the Daily Mail on Thursday.
However, Countess Spencer said she believed Diana was too “old-fashioned” to become pregnant outside marriage — and that she never mentioned it during their conversations.
Dodi had made Diana happier than she had been for years, Raine insisted.
