Educational institutions preserve culture

The role of education institutions in nation building is of great significance, said Udupi Pejawar Mutt seer Vishweshateertha Swamiji.
He was speaking at the golden jubilee ceremony of OLV School here on Friday.
Educational institutions do the duty of preserving culture.
Churches have been involved in the great service of giving good education.
Seers of mutts opened educational institutions inspired by them, he noted.
English education is essential in the modern era. But priority should be given to Kannada language too.
English medium schools should give importance to teach in Kannada also.
Religious  and harmony are the wealth of the nation. Educational institutions should provide opportunity for open learning, Swamiji observed.
Speaking on the occasion, former MLA B A Jeevijaya said Christian community has rendered great service to the society through educational institutions.
Mysore Bishop Dr Thomas A Valapilli presided.
OLV Church priest Fr Denis Naronha, Bangalore CSST’s superior Victorin and Josephet, Christian Association Secretary Grecian Rodrigues, G Umesh, cine actor Jai Jagadish, Taluk Panchayat President Geetha Basappa, member B M Paramesh, Block Education Officer B K Shivanna and Hanagal GP President Raju Ponnappa were present on the occasion.
