‘No Yielding To Competition’
Calcutta, Dec. 14.
Prime Minister Nehru today asked industrialists to look at the question of introduction of technology for higher production ‘not as a problem of your balance-sheet” but as one “of human balance-sheet -- as to how much human misery it would cause.”
He was addressing the annual general meeting of the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
Pak Envoy Calls For Mutual Exchange
Bangalore, Dec. 14.
Mian Zia-ud-din, High Commissioner for Pakistan in India, said in a press interview here today that in any national plan for reconstruction, either in India or Pakistan, there should be a separate department for mutual exchange of information on schemes of common
interest.

Quake Devastates Yemen Villages
Manama, Dec. 14.
The North Yemen earthquake has so far claimed at least 700 lives, left more than 3,000 injured and many more homeless, Arab diplomatic sources here said today.
Nationwide rescue operations were meanwhile is “full swing” for hundreds of people feared trapped under debris in the wake of the tremor that caused massive destruction yesterday, sources said.
