Santosh bags under-18 title

B Santosh cruised to a comfortable straight-set victory over Sujith Sachidanand to emerge champion in the under-18 boys’ section in the Mahila Seva Samaj Tennis Club annual State-ranking tournament here on Friday.
Santosh faced little resistance from his rival and coasted to a 6-2, 6-3 victory.

The other final in the boys section were also lop-sided affairs. Kashyap A crushed Prajwal Dev 6-1, 6-2 to take the U-12 title, while Rahul BS took top honours in the U-10 category with a facile 6-4, 7-5 win over Nikshep BR.
In the girls’ U-10 final, Nupoor Uma Shankar BT warded off a stiff challenge from Azza to register a 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 victory.

Rachita Sarda defeated Akansha Kohli 7-5, 6-1 to win the girls’ U-18 title.

 Ritu SP defeated Jeni Jacob 6-2, 6-3 for the girls’ U-12 title.

Results: Boys: Under-18: Final: B Santosh bt Sujith Sachidanand 6-2, 6-3.

Under-12: Final: Kashyap A bt Prajwal Dev 6-1, 6-2.

Under-10: Final: Rahul BS bt Nikshep BR 6-4, 7-5.

Girls: Under-18: Final: Rachita Sarda bt Akansha Kohli 7-5, 6-1. Semifinals: Rachita Sarda bt Ritu SP 6-0, 6-0; Akansha Kohli bt Preethi Gokhale 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.

Under-12: Final: SP Ritu bt Jeni Jacob 6-2, 6-3. Semifinals: SP Ritu bt Vaishnavi BR 7-0; Jeni Jacob bt Swetha Samuel 7-1.

Under-10: Final: Nupoor Uma Shankar BT bt Azza 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.
