SQL Star has recently signed an Memorand Of Understanding (MoU) with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) in Hyderabad to include SQL training courses in their curriculum. By March 2008, the training institute expects about 50,000 students to get trained under their wing.
According to Vice President Corporate Communications Achuthan Kutty SQL is even in talks with universities from Chandigarh and other states to have similar programmes. He said, “Paying subsidised rates students get trained in Oracle, Red Hat-Linux and Sun, starting with the basic concepts.”
SQL plans to have about 8,500 courses in IT to start with. Mr Kutty said, “We plan to have courses for Siebel, BFSI, healthcare, better communication skills etc in the future.” In the initial phase SQL plans to invest about Rs 12 crore in next two years for the purpose.
SQL as part of its strategic resource services has tied up with various IT companies. “Our students do on-job training in various firms for about six months to a year on a trial,” he said.
