The cops of Assam have arrested a man they suspect to be the key operative of the Pakistani Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) in the north-eastern region. The Inspector General of Police (Special Branch) Khagen Sharma said on Saturday that a special team of sleuths had arrested S M Alam, originally a citizen of Bangladesh, from Guwahati after shadowing him for several weeks.
The IGP said the arrested man was originally a resident of Uttara, a locality in Bangladeshi capital Dhaka. “Alam was looking after the ISI’s operations in Assam and rest of the north-eastern region since 2006,” said Sharma.
