The letter dated December 14 from Secretary, Urban Development, was received by the Lokayukta, on Saturday afternoon. The Government order was passed simultaneously.
The Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde had written to the Advisor to the Governor, Mr Krishna Kumar, in-charge of urban development asking him to take action against the controversial officer, whose premises were raided on November 24. Lokayukta Police seized cash and immovable property, worth more than Rs 20 crore, disproportionate to his “legitimate” income, on Monday. “The total worth of Mr Reddy’s assets should be in multiples of crores,” said Justice Hegde.
“Soon after the raid, the ADGP, Lokayukta Police, Rupak Kumar Dutta wrote to the Chief Secretary seeking the termination of the contract Mr Reddy, but he didn’t reply to it. I then wrote to Mr Krishna Kumar enclosing copies of my letter to Mr Prabhu (Advisor to Governor) seeking an amendment to the Conduct Rules for civil servants and Mr Tarakan, in-charge of Home among other departments” said the Lokayukta.
“I’m glad the Government has taken a pro-active step and terminated the contract of Mr Reddy. I hope this will be a deterrent to other corrupt officers,” said the Lokayukta.
