A day after the forest officials raided the nigh club on Residency Road and seized a dead cobra in a glass jar filled with whisky they were yet to establish the origin of the reptile.
“Investigations are still on and we are yet to establish the origin of the snake, whether it is an Indian species or not,” said District Forest Officer Vanashree.
If established that the dead cobra was of Indian origin then the Club Management could be booked under the Wild Life Protection Act-1972 as the Indian Cobra is a Scheduled II species. Officials said that the origin of the snake would be ascertained on Monday after further investigations.
A team on Saturday night raided the NYX Elite Club acting on a tip-off from a group of wildlife enthusiasts that a jar, which had an icon of Centaur - half man, half horse, had a dead cobra inside it and the drink inside the jar was served at an exorbitant cost.
