Rodents eat away fodder
DH News Service, Gudibande:

Tonnes of fodder  at the industrial sheds on the outskirts of Gudibande have been wasted due to negligence of the officers.

Four years ago the taluk was hit by drought leaving the people and cattle without any food, water or fodder.

There had been a mass exodus of farmers from the villages to the towns in search of work. The government realising the gravity of the situation had bought fodder even before the construction of the cowsheds. Fodder worth lakh of rupees were purchased from other states and the taluk administration had directed it to be  dumped at the industrial sheds.

Though fodder was distributed to the farmers at the initial stages the proposal of setting up a cowshed did not materialise. Thus, even though there has been a demand for the fodder it is lying wasted in the industrial sheds.

Moreover, with the intensity of drought lessening by the day the officers completely forgot about the fodder. Taluk administration, agricultural officers and even the officers of the industrial department did not bother to open the sheds and distribute the fodder to the farmers.

As a result  rodents have feasted upon tonnes of fodder meant for the cattle, informed the farmers.
