Karnataka Gram Panchayat Employees Association (CITU) has decided to stage an indefinite strike on December 18 in Bangalore, which will be participatd by over 15,000 GP workers.
On this regard, addressing a news conference on Thursday, Dakshina Kannada District Committee President K Yadav Shetty said that though several representations were made to the previous government about the demands of the GP employees no action has been taken so far.
He said that there are about 5,626 GPs and over 40,000 employes who have been demanding for various facilities. He said that providing gratuity to GP employees, appointment of nodal officer for Janashree Scheme, bringing GP employees under Provident funds scheme are some of the demands of the GP employees.
