Soviet Offers Worth Consideration
Paris, Dec. 16.
Dr Konrad Adfnauer told the NATO summit meeting today he would not object to diplomatic contacts with Russia to find what Marshal Bulganin’s recent “vague” letters to NATO leaders really meant.
The 81-year-old West German Chancellor, addressing the first closed session of the conference, said he recognised the moderate tone of the Soviet Premier’s letters.
Nehru Visits Bhilai Plant
Bhilai, Dec. 16.
Prime Minister Nehru said today after a visit to the Rs 156-crore Bhilai steel plant that the steel projects were the “foundations of our progress and prosperity.”
He told a mass meeting that his visit to Bhilai, one of the three steel plants under the public sector, was “very inspiring.”

Rebels Make It Tougher

Bangalore, Dec. 16.
Apart from multi – cornered contests in the majority of 224 constituencies and about 29 triangular fights, there are straight ballot battles (more than in 1978) which, according to pollsters, will indicate the decisive verdict of the people on the choice of the party and its candidates.
The constituencies where straight contests are on involve include Bhalki in Bidar District, Sorab and Channagiri in Shimoga.
