Fathima guides here
A Deva Raju

It is needless to mention that in December all churches will be decorated in a variety of ways as it is the season of Christmas.

In Bangalore this year, for those especially Christians who reside in the vicinity of Gangamma Circle, it is a feast for the eyes to see and enjoy the innovative things that have come up inside the Fathima Church, which is located on the way to Jalahalli West. Reason: The 90th anniversary of the Appartitious of Lady Fathima (1917-2007).

The centre of attraction inside the church is the construction of the Apostles’ Creed, which is round in shape. Ever since the installation of Apostles' Creed, people from far and near have been thronging the Church, more so on Sundays.

There are 20 small shrines round in shape and these have been constructed in an interesting way. In each shrine, apart from relevant portraits, there are descriptions of  Jesus’ Life. Beneath the statues, there are reflections and prayers. All these narrations have been written in English, Kannada and Tamil.
Inside the Apostles' Creed, one can see the first set of Five Luminous Mystery from left side which are the Fifth Luminous Mystery (Institution of the Eucharist), the Fourth Luminous Mystery (Jesus' Transfiguration), the Third Luminous Mystery (Jesus' proclamation of the Kingdom of God with his call to conversion), the Second Luminous Mystery (Jesus' self-manifestation at the Wedding of Cana) and The First Luminous Mystery (Jesus' Baptism in Jordan).

Following this, there is another set of Five Glorious Mysteries and after which there is a set of Five Sorrowful Mysteries, which include The Fifth Sorrowful Mystery (The crucifixion and death of Jesus), The Fourth Sorrowful Mystery (carrying of Cross by Jesus), The Third Sorrowful Mystery (the crowning of Jesus with thorns), The Second Sorrowful Mystery (The scourging of Jesus) and The First Sorrowful Mystery (The agony of Jesus).

Next to this is a set of Joyful Mystery, which are The Fifth Joyful Mystery (Jesus in the temple), The Fourth Joyful Mystery (The presentation), The Third Joyful Mystery (The nativity), The Second Joyful Mystery (The visitation) and The First Joyful Mystery (The annunciation).

It is nice to enter the campus of Fathima Church, which has a very spacious ground to celebrate important events all through the year. It is also invigorating to enter the portals of this church. There is a huge space inside the church where any number of devotees can sit and pray. This church, which is one of the oldest churches in the City, is away from the buzz of Bangalore.

BMTC Bus nos: 271A, 270, 273J, etc., are some of the direct buses from Majestic and Mathikere to reach this place.
