A ‘Rajahamsa’ deluxe bus of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) caught fire in Shanthinagar on Monday. As news of the fire spread, panic-stricken staff of the KSRTC immediately alerted the fire brigade that arrived and extinguished the fire, at around 12 noon.
General Manager (Traffic) K A Rajkumar said, “We suspect a short circuit caused the fire.” Babu Rao, Chief Mechanical Engineer, KSRTC said, the fire was noticed in the rear portion of the bus by the depot staff. The bus was purchased by the KSRTC a year ago at Rs 15 lakh. The loss is estimated at Rs nine lakh, officials said.
