Zilla Panchayat President Deergakeshi Shivanna directed the Chescom officials not to go for loadshedding in the evening till the exams are over.

She was speaking at the Zilla Panchayat KDP meeting on Monday.  She said “Consumers in Kodagu pay the electricity bill promptly. In this regard there should be no disruption in the supply of electricity. However, loadshedding in the evening is creating problems to the students.”

She appealed to the officials to chop the branches of the trees which come in the way of electricity wires in January and to provide undisrupted power supply in the summer for the pumpsets.

No funds

Chescom Chief Engineer (in charge) Nagaraj said that Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Project will be implemented as soon as the fund is released from REC. The tender process to undertake works worth Rs 33 crore is completed. If the REC releases fund, the work will commence soon.

The meet decided to urge the Government to make Kodagu Zilla Panchayat as implementation agency for the promotion of vaterinary works under Vidarbha Package. Raising the issue, Standing Committee on Social Justice President S N Rajarao and Kannada Implementation Committee Member T P Ramesh said “Hassan Milk Federation implementing programmes related to our district is not correct. Government should release fund to our district,” ZP decided to withheld the process of identifying sensitive spots by the forest department.
