Codava National Council (CNC) members will stage a protest in front of Mahathma Gandhi statue in Cubbon Park, Bangalore demanding the autonomy for 45 Kodava naadu on the model of Darjeeling Goorkhaland model, on December 18.
According to a press release from CNC General Secretary N U Nachappa, the dharna sathyagraha will be held between 9 am and 1 pm. As many as 70 Kodavas will take part in the Sathyagraha.
They said as per the Article 340 and 342, Kodavas should be given linguistic minority status and reservation should be provided in education and employment. Kodava language should be included in Eighth Schedule of the Indian constitution. A Kodava Jagathika University should be set up on the model of Aligarh Muslim University and Banaras Hindu University.
