CMC chief takes officials to task
DH News Service, Kolar Gold Fields:

The CMC commissioner G G Padmanabh who visited the MG Market abattoir suddenly on Saturday inspected the chaotic conditions there.

He decided to pay this surprise visit after there were complaints galore from the public last Tuesday at the people contact programme in the CMC office in the presence of general secretary Suresh.

After inspecting the abattoir and seeing the flow of blood in the gutters, the stinking smell, the rotting carcasses, bones, skin and the waste thrown around, he took to task the environmental officer for the horrible conditions.

The officials said that due to water problem, they were not able to keep the place clean.

He asked them to immediately arrange for water from the tanker and clean up the place.

He also directed the officers to immediately remove the sacks kept by a few shopkeepers which was hindering the movement of the pedestrians.

Padmanabh took to task inspector Sriram Reddy for allowing a few of the shopkeepers to convert the shope into homes and having their families there. He warned that notices would be issued to the officials.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, he said that in the future the CMC would chalk out programmes to create awareness among the people regarding cleanliness and other issues.
