Mangalore Varsity Council nod for 22 MPhil course syllabus

Mangalore University Academic Council approved syllabus for 22 M Phil courses at a meeting held here on Tuesday.

The meeting was chaired by Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor Prof K M Kaveriappa.  He said Mangalore University will introduce both full time and part time M Phil courses for the benefit of the students.  The members also gave their consent to consider JOC in Banking course by the State Council of Vocation Educational equivalent to Pre University and the students are eligible to purse their study in BHM degree course. Students with JOC in sericulture degree are allowed to pursue their study in BBM.

Statutes

The Council also approved statue relating to the upgradation of 16 categories of non teaching posts in Mangalore University.

Prof Kaveriappa said some posts like electrical wireman/electrical shift mechanic, work inspector/pump operator/pump mechanic/fitter, plumber, store keeper, Assistant Store keeper, Pharmacists, Lab technician, Lab Assistant, Photographer cum artist, computer operator workshop mechanic, Technical Assistant/operator, Glass blower, horticulture assistant, driver and typist cum clerk do not have any promotion.

Those who have completed at least 20 years of service without any promotion after regular appointment are eligible for upgradation.

Apart from this, the “draft statute governing the cadre and recruitment rules for the post of drivers, stenographer, first division assistants in Mangalore University” was approved in the meeting.

The statutes will be sent to Chancellor for the final approval before its implementation. The meeting also approved syllabus for PG diploma in Yogic sciences along with revised syllabus of many PG courses. 

Registrar Dr K Sundar Naik, MLC Arun Machaiah was present.

CONVOCATION IN FEBRUARY?

The convocation of Mangalore University is likely to be held in February, 2008.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor Prof K M Kaveriappa said: “We have listed three names for the chief guest. They include UGC Chairman Prof Sukhadeo Thorat, Economist Prof Amarthyasen and High Court Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph. If we get tentative date from UGC Chairman, then we will invite Chancellor Rameshwar Thakur and a date will be fixed.”

COPY OF EVALUATION REPORT

Prof Keshavan of department of History, Mangalore University, said copy of evaluation report to the candidate may be given on request through the guide. However, the copy should be given after the issue of provisional certicate.
