The government would take all necessary steps to see that the Datta Jayanthi celebrations at Bababudangiri would go peacefully, said Advisor to the Governor P K H Tarakan who is also in-charge of the departments of Revenue, Home, Labour, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Transport, Tourism and Social Welfare.
Addressing media persons after holding a meeting with the top officials of various departments here on Tuesday, he said that steps have been devised as per the appeal of the Hindu organisations to the Governor.
When asked about the further steps of the government towards electing the chiefs of the Urban Local Bodies, he said he was not the proper person to react.
Replying to a query on the decision of transferring police officials who have served for more than 4 years in a particular place, he said the initiative would depend on the Election Commission’s announcement of elections in the State.
The advisor said he had an interaction with the officials of various departments in order to familiarise with the state-of-affairs. Inspector General of Police (Western Range) A M Prasad, Deputy Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao, Superintendent of Police Sathish Kumar and other officials were present.
Later, Mr Tarakan held a meeting of all Superintendents of Police coming under Western Range.
In Manipal
In another meeting with the officials of Udupi district held at Manipal, he told press persons that he would go through the issues which were hampering the amendment of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Lokayukta has written to the Governor regarding the issue, he recalled.
Mr Tarakan also assured that he would direct the officials concerned to brief the injustice experienced by the victims of the Nagarjuna project. Answering a query, he clarified that no transfer order had been served to Udupi Deputy Commissioner V Ponnuraju.
