Closed market building
The renovated Jogupalya
Old Market building needs
to be reopened.
The Jogupalya Old Market Building was renovated and rebuilt in the year 2004 but remains closed and unoccupied for the past four years. BBMP had earlier announced that the first floor of the new building will be occupied by the post office, now situated in Bazar Street and the ground floor for the vegetable market.
While this constructed building stands unutilised for years, the street cart vendors numbering more than 30 are doing business in the Jogupalya Main Road itself blocking both the sides of the road causing a lot of inconvenience and traffic problems to the people particularly during peak hours. Will the BBMP awake at least now and do the needful in the larger interest of the public.
P Mohanraj,
Jogupalya.
Banaswadi station needs attention
I wish to draw attention of all concerned authorities mainly railways to provide better facilities at Banaswadi Station where trains stop and passengers get down but there is no proper facilities to get autorickshaws or other transport car or vehicle parking.
Passengers have to walk considerably to get vehicle. This is causing lot of hardship and inconvenience to the people.

No water connection
It is reported that only 72 wards out of 230 under BBMP will be given Cauvery water supply during this month (Dec. 27th).
A deposit of Rs 5000-10,000 has been collected by BWSSB from the residents of all wards by fixing July 2005 as the last date for payments of deposits, with the promise of providing water connections by March 2006.
It has also collected a fine of Rs 100-200 per month from those who have paid the deposits after July 2005.
But no water connection has been given so far even though it is more than 19 months after the target date.
Now it is understood that for the remaining 158 wards, water connection will be provided during the year 2011, i.e. after another 48 months (if provided).
Therefore the department is legally bound to pay the depositors at the same rate of Rs 100–200 per month.
This must be done till the date of providing water connection. This is because many people have incurred loans for paying the deposits . It is indeed a heavy interest that they are paying owards settling the loans.
