Dynamos take on Sultans first

Chandigarh Dynamos and former champions Hyderabad Sultans will lock horns in the inaugural match of the fourth edition of the Premier Hockey League at the Sector 42 stadium in Chandigarh on Thursday.


This time, a total of 21 foreign players will feature in the league and South Koreans will be taking part in the event for the first time. Among the 21, 10 are from the Netherlands, eight from Pakistan and three from South Korea.

In all, 26 matches will be played over the next 22 days.

Defending champions Orissa Steelers will take on Bangalore Hi-Fliers on December 21. The foreign players for the Bangalore team will be Olivier Rutgers (the Netherlands), Sebastian Westerhout (the Netherlands), You Hyo Sik (South Korea).

In a bid to enforce better discipline, in this edition even a green card will mean that the erring player will not be allowed to play in the game for two minutes.

Foreign players: Orissa Steelers: Diederik Mars (the Netherlands), Chul Kim (South Korea), Shakeel Abbasi (Pakistan). Chandigarh Dynamos: Ghazanfar Ali (Pakistan), Huib Zwerver (the Netherlands), Zeeshan Ashraf (Pakistan). Hyderabad Sultans: Kamran Ahmed (Pakistan), Adnan Maqsood (Pakistan), Oscar ter Weeme (the Netherlands). Chennai Veerans: Cesco van der Vliet (the Netherlands), Eric-Jan Iding (the Netherlands), Joost van den Bogart (the Netherlands). Maratha Warriors: Melchior Looijen (the Netherlands), Rehan Butt (Pakistan), Kang Moon Kweon (South Korea). Bangalore Hi-Fliers: Olivier Rutgers (the Netherlands), Sebastian Westerhout (the Netherlands), You Hyo Sik (South Korea). Sher-e-Jallandhar: Salman Akbar (Pakistan), Don Prins (the Netherlands), Dilawar Hussain (Pakistan).
