Narrow win for Surana

Surana College scored a narrow four runs win over Christ College in the qualifying round of the VIE-2008 cricket tournament on Wednesday.

Surana, batting first, made 116 in 12.5 overs. Sharath top-scored with 24. Christ, in reply, were bowled out for 112 in 14.4 overs, with Shabareesh and Suraj taking three wickets apiece.

Brief scores: Surana College: 116 all out in 12.5 overs (Sharath 24; Dhanish 4-15, M S Nitin 2-21, Tanzil 2-6) bt Christ College: 112 all out in 14.4 overs (Shreyan 22; Shabareesh 3-37, Suraj 3-24, Srajan D 2-3).

Football, tennis ties postponed

Rain played spoilsport with local events as the Super Division and ‘A’ Division  football league matches at the Bangalore Football Stadium and the National-ranking tennis tournament at the Mahila Seva Samaj courts were postponed.

The football league ties slated for Wednesday and Thursday were postponed while tennis matches too will resume once the conditions are satisfactory for play.

In Super Division football, Sports Authority of India were scheduled to play Department of Youth Services and Sports while Rail Wheel Factory and Dharmaraja Union were to meet in the ‘A’ Division game.

Rail Wheel Factory, who have won all their matches so far, are assured of the ‘A’ Division title.

Bodybuilding meet on Jan 6

Sagar Vyayamashale is organising a state-level bodybuilding competition on January 6 at the Gandhi Maidana Sagar in Shimoga.

Corporate cricket meet
